Sendai City Museum was opened in 1961 for the purpose of preserving, exhibiting, and studying materials related to the history and arts of Sendai, including those donated by the Sendai Date family. The museum was totally rebuilt in 1986 (two storied reinforced concrefte body with a total floor space of 18,000㎡).
Highlights
The museum stores a collection of materials from the Keicho mission to Europe and important cultural materials such as Date Masamune's gusoku armour and wartime coat, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's armour, and Misawa Hatsuko's kimono sash. The museum also accommodates about 80,000 items of materials relevant to the history, culture, and arts and crafts of Sendai.

Get off at Hakubutsukan-Kokusai Center Mae. Walk about 3 mins.
