This park has about 190 cherry trees, mainly Somei-yoshino (cherry tree) and Shidare-zakura (weeping cherry). Due to its location in the center of Sendai, it is the most popular viewing spot in the down town area. Various street stalls are usually set up and you can also enjoy viewing cherry blossoms at night.
Aobayama Park
This park is located around Sendai-city Museum and has about 480 cherry trees. With the turret of the Site of Sendai Castle, this creates a splendid atmosphere.
Tsutsujigaoka Park
It is said that the origin of this park dates back to Date Tsunamura, the forth lord of Date, who had several thousand Shidare-zakura brought back from Kyoto to be planted in Sendai. Now some 400 cherry trees such as Someiyoshino, Yaezakura, and Higanzakura grow in this park. Various street stalls are also set up and you can also enjoy viewing cherry blossoms at night.
Mikamine Park
This park has about 550 trees of 33 kinds which bloom from early to late spring and last for more than a month. You can also enjoy the street stalls that are set up.
