Dancers in vibrant costumes holding hanagasa (straw hats adorned with flowers), lead a parade of colorfully decorated Shinto floats down the main street of Yamagata, in time to the rhythmic beat of the drums and locals chanting “Yassho!” “Makkasho!”

By train from Sendai station to Yamagata station approximately 1 hour 10 minutes
