April is the best time of the year to see cherry blossoms in Sendai and Tohoku. The Tohoku region is also one of the few places in Japan where visitors can see cherry blossoms and snow at the same time. A visit to Sendai City and the Tohoku Region is a must for cherry blossom viewing!

  
 
 
 

Hanamiyama, a privately owned park open to the public for free, is a popular sight seeing spot. In addition to cherry blossoms; peach blossoms, forsythias, Japanese quince and magnolias all bloom during April at the park.

Getting there:

  • By bullet train from Sendai station to Fukushima station approximately 30 minutes, 15 minutes by taxi from the station to the park

  • By bus from Sendai station to Hanamiyama approximately 1 hour 40 minutes
