This site has been chosen as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing sites in Japan. Cherry blossoms burst into color on the 1,000 or so cherry trees lining eight kilometers of the river embankment. Here one can see both the wintery Zao scenery and the beautiful cherry blossoms, a rare treat!

Getting there:

  • By train from Sendai station to Ogawara station approximately 35 minutes

  • By bus from Sendai station approximately 1 hour
