How would you like to experience the arts while touring the city? After boarding Loople Sendai, the first bus stop is at Bansuisodo. You’ll tour the former residence of the Sendai-born poet, Bansui Doi, then at Sendai Castle, you’ll come upon the statue of DATE Masamune riding on a horse overlooks the city of Sendai. After touring the Miyagi Museum of Art, which houses the works of artists from Miyagi and Tohoku, and visiting the gallery of the Miyagi-born sculptor, Churyo Sato, then get off the Loople Sendai at Mediatheque. Walking down Jozenji-dori Avenue among the zelkova trees, you’ll find sculptures produced by famous sculptors such as Emilio Greco. Your final destination is the familiar brick-style station building of Sendai Station.

Nature Stroll and Learning Course route details

Become knowledgeable about Sendai, the Academic City, on this course. Get off at the Foot of Mount Aoba at the City Museum / International Center stop, then walk to Tohoku University Botanical Garden. View the natural fir forest as well as rare plants, then after boarding the Loople Sendai again, visit the Tohoku University Museum of Natural History which displays many scientific specimens. There you’ll find that the exhibits turn your thoughts to the changes of the earth and the history of life. The final destination is the Sankyozawa Water power plant, built in the Meiji era, and still producing electricity. You can learn about the history of electric power at the memorial hall adjacent to the power station. On this course you’ll be able to view the beautiful and rich nature of Sendai as you walk to each site to and from the bus stops, or through the bus windows.
