BUS STOP 5

This museum contains 90,000 items from Sendai domain’s history, culture and fine arts. The collection contains pieces such as the Important Cultural Property of DATE Masamune’s suit of armor, donated by the DATE family of Sendai, and items related to Hasekura Tsunenaga’s diplomatic mission to Europe, the Keicho Embassy (UNESCO Memory of the World and National Treasure). Exhibits change with each season, but there are always about 1000 pieces on exhibit. Near the entrance to the museum is Goshikinuma Pond, said to be the birthplace of figure skating in Japan. The thick greenery surrounding the museum make you want to take a nice slow, deep breath of the air.
