Give snacks to animals and observe how they eat up close!

You can feed the following animals: Japanese macaque (Japanese monkey), African elephant (limit to about 30 pieces), goat (limit to about 30 pieces), rabbit (limit to about 15 pieces), hippo (limit to about 20 pieces).

At Yagiyama Zoological Park Fujisaki no Mori, you can feed the animals and observe how they eat during their daily snack time sessions. Each animal eats its own variety of food and has a different way of eating.

In addition to viewing the teeth and mouth movements of “regular” animals, you can see how African elephants use their nostrils. Also, you can notice how some individuals in a group of Japanese macaque (Japanese monkey) or goats are barely able to eat at all. Observing the relationships of animals is another way to have fun.

○African elephant: African elephant exhibit（on the wild goose ecological park side）(13:15～)
○Goat: ”Fureai no Oka” goat exhibit（11:30～）
○Rabbit: Inside “Fureai-kan” building (13:10～)
○Hippo: Viewing area inside the hippo exhibit building（14:40～）

YAGIYAMA ZOOLOGICAL PARK FUJISAKI NO MORI

Meet the animals at the largest zoo in Tohoku through our ecological exhibitions. There are also daily events such as feeding African elephants and meeting with goats sheeps. Easily access the zoo with a 12-minute subway ride from Sendai Station via the Tozai Line.

At Yagiyama Zoological Park Fujisaki no Mori, various hands-on activities allow you to experience the animals up close, such as through “touching” and “feeding” programs, which are held every day throughout the year. You can make a deeper relationship with the animals by understanding their abilities and knowing their behavior. Adults as well as children are welcome.
