Make traditional sweets which express the beauty of Japan's four seasons.

Experience making fresh Japanese sweets (nerikiri “kneaded sweets”) at a sweets specialty shop!

The tea ceremony has a long history in Sendai since the castle town was founded over 400 years ago. Traditional Japanese sweets are an essential part of Sendai’s local tea culture. Japanese Patisserie MORIYA has been making customers smile with their high-quality sweets for over half a century. Our shop is located next to the ancient Mutsu Kokubunji Temple, Yakushido. We want visitors to appreciate traditional sweets on a deeper level by experiencing traditional sweets-making for themselves.

In this experience, participants will make two kinds of seasonal sweets (with flowers and traditional motifs). Make two of each kind, for a total of four. A friendly expert instructor will carefully guide you during the experience, so even children will be able to try making sweets with confidence.

After you finish, you can take the sweets home with you.
(Alternatively, eat the sweets in our lounge area.)

・Eligibility: Elementary school students and older (junior high school students and younger should participate with their parents)
・ Number of participants: 2-4 people
・ Time required: About 60-80 minutes
・ What to bring: apron, handkerchief (to act as head cover when making sweets), hand wipes.

* When applying, please let us know three desired dates and times.
* We are also able to offer experiences outside the shop for a large number of people. Please contact us for details.
