Matsushima is a popular tourist spot located near Sendai.
The bay is famous for its 260 small islands covered with pine trees. The view is so beautiful that Matsushima is famous for being one of Japan’s most beautiful views! Besides the view, the area is rich in history and has many delicious delicacies!

Let’s see some of those islands close-up with a cruise around Matsushima Bay! This will be a great introduction before exploring the coastline in detail on foot. Next I will introduce the spiritual and religious history of Matsushima’s Entsuin, Zuiganji, and Godaido temples. Another must-do in the area is taste the fresh seafood, such as Matsushima’s famous oysters. Or you can try Sendai’s soul food: grilled beef tongue! if you like japanese green tea, we will take a break to relax with a cup of Japanese green tea and sweets at the historic Kanrantei teahouse overlooking the bay.
