Draw freely on your very own Ogatsu stone keychain!

Ogatsu stone is a precious stone of Miyagi, quarried from geological strata approximately 300 million years old. Found only in Ogatsu-cho, Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, it is known as the material used for inkstones offered to Lord Date Masamune, and has been designated a national traditional craft as "Ogatsu inkstone (Ogatsu Suzuri)." It was also used in the roof of the restored Tokyo Station Marunouchi building in 2012.
This is a slightly indulgent experience in which you can draw on Ogatsu stone to create your very own keychain.

Kokeshino SHIMANUKI CO.,LTD

Our historical shop inside the Sendai shopping arcades sells kokeshi dolls and various crafts from Miyagi and Tohoku. Some Sendai crafts and special items sold in our shop are not sold at any other store. Besides shopping, visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences such as kokeshi doll painting or making an LED candle.
