-About Bashoen Tea Shop-
Our shop was founded in Sendai over 337 years ago. Our Japanese tea specialty shop is loved by locals. We pride ourselves in providing high quality Japanese tea for everyday enjoyment. Our matcha green tea is always freshly ground.

We are not a shop designed for visiting tourists, but a place for locals to gather and tea lovers to explore. However, since we hope to share more about the characteristics of Japanese tea, we are offering this program for interested travelers.

Bashoen Tea Shop

Bashoen Tea Shop

Bashoen was founded in 1668 during the early Edo period. Eventually our family business came to specialize in Japanese tea. Our tea is mainly from Shizuoka and Gifu prefectures. We pride ourselves by offering the highest quality and best tasting Japanese tea to all of our customers. We have many types of tea, such as Sencha (green tea), Matcha (powdered green tea), Gyokuro (a shaded green tea) and Hojicha (roasted green tea). Learn more about Japanese tea through our tea experiences.
