Akita prefecture is one of the six prefectures that the Tohoku region in northern Japan. Akita is famous for its snowy winters, samurai history, delicious rice and sake, and traditional festivals and customs! Sendai is the "Gateway to Tohoku," so you'll find many restaurants serving delicacies from around the region. At "AKITA DINING Namahage" our goal is to share Akita's food, sake, and culture in a relaxed setting.

AKITA DINING Namahage Sendai Branch
Experience some of Akita Prefecture and culture inside Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture! At “AKITA DINING Namahage” you can eat local delicacies and drink sake from Akita inside an authentic “Japanese” atmosphere which was decorated by relocating a 120-year-old private house. You can also eat inside a “kamakura” igloo-like private room modeled after an Akita snow festival. During dinner an Akita god who looks like a monster, the “Namahage”, will greet you. This will be the perfect memory for your trip in Tohoku!

Akita Prefecture's "Namahage" are local demon-looking gods well-known throughout Japan. Namahage are messengers of the mountain gods who visit our restaurant every night! They will come to your table and make sure you give up evil habits such as laziness and bad behavior, protect you against disasters, and finally give you good luck!
