The Japanese folk tale Tsuru no Ongaeshi (鶴の恩返し, lit. "Crane's Return of a Favor") originated in Nanyo City. Try making a cloth coaster here with a traditional machine for a special memory!

Make a coaster using the traditional weaving machine. A weaving instructor will instruct you.

・Time needed: 10-15 minutes　　
・No. of Participants: 4 (if more than 4, participants will be divided into groups and take turns doing the experience)
　※This is the number of people during covid prevention measures. Usually we can accommodate up to 200 participants.
・Target: Participants should be 130cm or taller to join the experience.

Nanyo City Tourism Association

The famous Akayu hot spring resort is located just below Eboshiyama Park, one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. Together with the scenery of vineyards and plastic greenhouses on the surrounding mountains, they are a symbol of Nanyo City. This area is also known as the "Holy Land of grapes" because the wineries use the “Delaware” variety of grapes. With wineries from 6 companies, this is the largest wine village in the Tohoku region! Cherry picking is also popular. At Sky Park, which is famous for its sea of clouds, it is possible to experience paragliding flights with a wheelchair. The tourism association helps make various experience programs, and performs PR and event management activities.

At the Yuzuru Village Museum (Yuzuru no Sato Kan), you can see materials from the era of silk weaving and old-fashioned toys. Depending on the time of year, you can see the actual silkworms up close!
