🌸 Enjoy Edo-Period Traditional Crafts with Sendai Tanabata Washi 🌸

Experience the Edo-period art of “Monkiri Asobi” using washi paper that was actually used in the streamers of the Sendai Tanabata Festival.

Fold the washi and cut along the templates, and in an instant, a beautiful family crest emerges. The moment of revelation is like witnessing traditional Japanese beauty bloom right in your hands.

During this special program, you can choose your favorite family crest design and create a one-of-a-kind folding fan or kaleidoscope. The Tanabata washi used in the workshop is made using a dyeing technique passed down since the Heian period, resulting in vibrant, durable, and exquisite paper. Not only is it beautiful, but it also carries the living culture and history of Sendai.

This experience blends tradition, art, and sustainability, making it perfect as a memorable sightseeing activity, a school trip, or a cultural learning program.

Feel the charm of Sendai’s history and craftsmanship while creating your very own Japanese-style artwork.
