Choose your favorite kokeshi shape. With plenty of sample designs on hand, it's easy even for first-timers.

At Kokeshi no Shimanuki Main Store, located in the covered shopping arcade near Sendai Station, you can enjoy painting your own kokeshi (traditional wooden doll).
Just pick your favorite from 6 kokeshi shapes and design it freely with felt-tip pens. We have plenty of samples, so don't worry if you're not good at drawing. Copy the traditional patterns as they are, or draw your favorite character — there are no rules.
It makes a one-of-a-kind souvenir of your trip.

Kokeshino SHIMANUKI CO.,LTD

Our historical shop inside the Sendai shopping arcades sells kokeshi dolls and various crafts from Miyagi and Tohoku. Some Sendai crafts and special items sold in our shop are not sold at any other store. Besides shopping, visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences such as kokeshi doll painting or making an LED candle.

Our shop is filled with kokeshi (traditional wooden dolls), along with crafts and goods from all over the Tohoku region. With crafts available only at Kokeshi no Shimanuki, it's fun just to browse — and a perfect place to find souvenirs.
