珍しい化石がたくさん！「化石の町南三陸町」！「道の駅さんさん南三陸」に併設された「南三陸ポータルセンター」にて、いつでも参加できる新たな化石体験が始まりました！

「南三陸ポータルセンター」にて新たに始まる「化石の町南三陸町」にちなんだ体験です。岩ブロックを好きなだけ削り、隠された化石や鉱石を掘り出してみましょう。道の駅観光の合間で気軽に楽しめるユニークな化石体験です！

Minamisanriku Tourism Association

Located in the northeastern part of Miyagi Prefecture, it is about a 75-minute drive from Sendai City via expressway. It is a port town boasting seasonal seafood such as oysters, scallops, ascidians, and sea urchins. We offer programs that take advantage of local resources, including a campground overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a “learning program” to convey the lessons of the disaster, and various nature experiences. 宮城県南三陸町は知る人ぞ知る日本有数の化石産地です。およそ2億5千万年前～1億6千万年前、海の底にあったこの町の大地には、数多くの希少な海の古生物が眠っていました。世界最古級の魚竜「ウタツサウルス」をはじめ、日本初の発見となった「のうとう類」化石などが代表的です。さらに2024年度には2種の新種化石も報告され、今なお多くの研究者が足を運ぶ古生物学の調査地となっています。
