Make your own bracelet to remember your special trip to Matsushima, Japan!

At Entsuin Temple you can experience making bracelets with beads made of plastic, glass, or natural stones. All the gems are prayed for and blessed by the principal image of Entsuin Temple, the "Sacred Kanzeon Bosatsu". After the natural stone bracelet making experiences, there is an explanation about the meaning of each selected stone.

Children can also enjoy making the bracelets easily, so why not make bracelets as a family? No reservation is required for the bead making experience. If you wish to join the experience, please tell us at the temple gate (reception desk).

There are various bead bracelet making experiences. The memorial type beads will be sent by post after an experienced artist carefully knits the strings, attaches the tufts, and performs a memorial service at the principal image.

* Please make a reservation if your group has 10 people or more.
* We welcome large groups of people, but please contact us in advance.

Entsuin Temple

Entsuin Temple

Entsuin is a Rinzai sect temple of the Myoshin-ji school. It is located in Matsushima, one of Japan's Three Most Scenic Spots. Entsuin is near other quiet and peaceful settings, such as the national treasure Zuigan-ji Temple and Godaido Temple. Entsuin houses the mausoleum of Mitsumune Date, the grandson of Date Masamune. Mitsumune’s father, the second feudal lord Date Tadamune, built the three-bay Sankeiden mausoleum to enshrine his son’s spirit in 1647. On the temple grounds, visitors can view the sand garden and rose garden, or join the bracelet making experience.

Buddhist beads are an important tool for funerals, ceremonies, visiting graves, etc., which are held between your hands when praying and communicating with Buddha. It is said simply having prayer beads provides some value, such as removing individual bad luck and creating peace of mind.
